Meet the Staff
Program Manager
Richard Matthews is our program manager. He is a very dedicated supervisor who works hard to ensure that everything runs smoothly both here at the kennel and out in the field.
Animal Control Officers
Tulare County is divided into three animal control districts with each officer covering one-third of the county. These three officers, Daniel, Melisa and Sal, cover the entire County six days a week. They handle calls for stray dogs, aggressive animals, injured animals, animal cruelty, owner surrenders, dog bites and any other emergency that comes up. They are constantly going from call to call. Their job can be very demanding at times, but it is also very rewarding. Besides normal working hours, the three officers rotate being on call for emergencies.
Volunteer Coordinator
Michelle is our volunteer coordinator. She is in charge of all of the volunteers along with the foster program, humane education and pet therapy. She oversees the off-site adoptions and special events. If you are interested in volunteering or fostering please give her a call Tuesday through Saturday.
Front Office
Mary and Sally cover the front desk. This includes all incoming phone calls and questions, along with adoptions and owner reclaims. They dispatch all calls for service to the animal control officers. Mary also handles all of the dog licensing for the County areas. If you need a new license or need to renew a current license please give her a call.
Kennel Workers
Amanda, Paul, and Dona are responsible for cleaning and feeding the animals. They do a great job looking after the animals. If you are looking for an animal please stop by and they will be happy to show you through the kennel and answer any questions you might have. We have a cat room with many cats and kittens, along with a 50 run dog kennel. We get new animals in every day so be sure to come out and look often.

And last but not least, “Sasha” our mascot
Sasha is a beautiful pastel calico kitty that came into the shelter as a stray on October 2, 2003. The lady who found her brought her over to us in a little basket which she continued to sleep in until she got too big. Now she sleeps wherever she wants, on chairs, desks, bookcases, and even on top of the snake cage (brave cat). She has such a great personality and was so friendly that we decided to keep her. She greets most of the incoming cats and kittens but is a little shy of dogs unless they are smaller then her. |
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.
